Usher Morgan is an award-winning screenwriter, film director, and producer based in New York City. He began his career in the book publishing industry but soon found his passion for filmmaking, transitioning into production and distribution. His early foray into film began with the production of the documentary "The Thought Exchange" in 2012, which starred David Friedman and Lucie Arnaz. This project marked Morgan's first "producer" role, setting the stage for his later ventures in narrative filmmaking.

In 2015, Morgan made his directorial debut with the award-winning short film "Prego", a dark comedy that garnered attention at numerous film festivals. "Prego" helped establish his distinct directorial voice, one that would later define his work in feature films.

Morgan's first feature-length film, "Pickings", was released to critical acclaim in March 2018 and received a limited theatrical release via AMC Independent. "Pickings" blends elements of film noir and spaghetti westerns, showcasing Morgan's signature style, which combines gritty, stylized visuals with complex, morally ambiguous characters. The film received praise for its bold, unconventional narrative and striking visual aesthetics. The Los Angeles Times recognized Morgan as "a talent to watch," solidifying his place as a promising new voice in independent cinema.

In 2023, Usher Morgan completed his second feature film, "Plucked", a dark comedy film co-written, co-produced, and co-directed with Katie Vincent. Set to enter the festival circuit in 2025, "Plucked" continues Morgan's exploration of the dark and often surreal aspects of human nature, further cementing his reputation for creating thought-provoking, genre-defying films. Usher Morgan is also in pre-production on his third feature film, "Anna's in the Woods", which is set to begin filming in October 2024.
